Buying research peptides in the UK: what to check

Reviewed 22 October 2026 · How we research

The UK has dozens of online peptide suppliers. Quality varies widely, and labelling alone tells you very little. These are the checks that matter.

Supplier checklist

  1. Batch-specific COAs with HPLC and mass spec, matching the batch number printed on the vial.
  2. Independent testing — ideally a named third-party lab you can contact.
  3. UK stock and dispatch — avoids customs seizure and long unrefrigerated transit.
  4. Clear research-use positioning. Suppliers that give human dosing advice or make medical claims are breaking UK law, which tells you something about their compliance generally.
  5. Proper packaging — sealed vials, crimped caps, lot numbers, storage instructions.
  6. A real company — registered address, working contact details, published returns policy.
  7. Normal payment methods with buyer protection.

Red flags

  • Pre-filled pens or “ready-to-inject” products.
  • Prices far below the market — synthesis and testing have real costs.
  • COAs that are generic, undated or reused.
  • Dosing instructions, before/after photos or medical claims.
  • Payment only by bank transfer or crypto with no alternative.

The legal position

Buying research peptides is legal in the UK; selling unlicensed medicines for human use is not. See our guide to UK peptide law.

Our referenced supplier

This library references Pristine Peptides for UK price comparisons — they publish batch COAs, dispatch from the UK and sell strictly for research. You can read about how we choose references on our disclosure page. Apply the same checklist to any supplier, including this one.
