AOD-9604 dosage: what the research used

Reviewed 22 October 2026 · How we research

This page collects the doses reported in published AOD-9604 research and works through the reconstitution maths for common vial sizes. It does not recommend any dose.

Doses used in published research

Human studies used oral tablet formulations in the clinical programme, not injections. The 2007 phase 2b used daily oral dosing over 24 weeks and failed its primary endpoint. Rodent studies used daily injected or oral doses scaled by body weight. There is no established or approved human dose.

Handling and storage

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water, adding it slowly down the vial wall and swirling rather than shaking — see the reconstitution guide. Once mixed, refrigerate at 2–8 °C; unmixed lyophilised powder keeps longest frozen (storage guide). Converting between units, mL and mg is covered in syringe units explained.

AOD-9604 dosing FAQs

How much bacteriostatic water for a 5 mg AOD-9604 vial?

There is no fixed amount — the volume sets the concentration. Adding 2 mL to a 5 mg vial gives 2.5 mg/mL; 1 mL gives 5 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 2.5 mg/mL, 2.5 mL gives 2 mg/mL.

How many units is 250 µg of AOD-9604?

At 2.5 mg/mL (5 mg in 2 mL), 250 µg is 0.1 mL, or 10 units on a U-100 syringe. A different water volume changes this — use the calculator above.

Is there an approved AOD-9604 dose?

no established or approved human dose.

What is a AOD-9604 dosage chart?

A table showing how many syringe units a given amount takes at a given concentration. The reconstitution table on this page is one, calculated for 5 mg vials.
