MOTS-c dosage: what the research used

Reviewed 22 October 2026 · How we research

This page collects the doses reported in published MOTS-c research and works through the reconstitution maths for common vial sizes. It does not recommend any dose.

Doses used in published research

All dosing data are from animals. Mouse studies used intraperitoneal injections in the range of roughly 0.5–15 mg/kg, given daily or several times a week for days to weeks. These doses do not translate directly to people, and no human dose has been established.

Handling and storage

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water, adding it slowly down the vial wall and swirling rather than shaking — see the reconstitution guide. Once mixed, refrigerate at 2–8 °C; unmixed lyophilised powder keeps longest frozen (storage guide). Converting between units, mL and mg is covered in syringe units explained.

MOTS-c dosing FAQs

How much bacteriostatic water for a 10 mg MOTS-c vial?

There is no fixed amount — the volume sets the concentration. Adding 2 mL to a 10 mg vial gives 5 mg/mL; 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL, 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL, 3 mL gives 3.333 mg/mL.

How many units is 1 mg of MOTS-c?

At 5 mg/mL (10 mg in 2 mL), 1 mg is 0.2 mL, or 20 units on a U-100 syringe. A different water volume changes this — use the calculator above.

Is there an approved MOTS-c dose?

See the published trial doses above. Any human use of a licensed medicine should follow its prescribing information and a prescriber's advice.

What is a MOTS-c dosage chart?

A table showing how many syringe units a given amount takes at a given concentration. The reconstitution table on this page is one, calculated for 10 mg vials.
